Do you send out Christmas cards? I do; I love receiving something a little extra in the mail - it's such a nice surprise. Mine should be hitting mailboxes within the next week or so! 

I'm loving the blues in my Christmas cards this year - Pool Party and Island Indigo combined with silver really are doing it for me! Of course, I'm a little biased since blue is one of my favourite 'go-to' colours any time of the year.

Tell me, do you typically reach for the traditional red/green of the season, or do you go for some variety?

Time for a Colour Refresh!

Today Stampin' Up! announced a colour refresh and I'm thrilled to share the updated line of colours in advance of the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalogue! Note that all retiring/discontinuing colour products (ink, paper, ribbon, etc.) will be available only while supplies last!  There is only one new colour, which is called Smoky Slate. There are mostly previous In Colours that will returning as core colours. I've noted the years they were considered an In Colour beside their name ... They are Bermuda Bay ('09-'10), Blushing Bride ('10-'12), Calypso Coral ('11-'13), Crushed Curry ('09-'10), Island Indigo ('11-'13), Pear Pizzazz ('10-'12), Pool Party ('11-'13), Soft Sky, and Wisteria Wonder ('11-'13).  That means that this year when the current ('11-'13) In Colours were set to retire, the only one that is actually retiring is Lucky Limeade.  We will also still get 5 new In Colours! I wonder what they'll be?? Hershey's Christmas Trees

I saw this really cool design to make Christmas Trees filled with Hershey's kisses recently (on Qbees Quest blog) and just had to make them for the wrap-up night for the 2012 Christmas Card club.  

I opted not to make the trunk like Brenda had made, as I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find the chocolates to fit.  The other modification I had made was using the Jewelry Tag punch to make the tag on the top of the trees.  If you stick one end of your paper into the top of the punch, you can extend it so that the length is long enough to match your greeting!

They were quite easy to make and really impressive - I loved how the kisses just fit in each spot; it made them really easy to transport!  I think I'll make some more!

I've been negligent in blogging the past couple weeks as it's been a busy time with football, school winding down and all the swaps I've signed up for!  I've also been playing a bit with the Simply Scored tool.  I have one card for your viewing pleasure and a little peek at a template that I've been playing with.

This card uses the Doily Sizzlit that is so much fun to poke out all the pieces ... and the new spritzer.  I really liked being able to select my colour and just give that extra bit of dimension to the doily.

Easter flowers

Happy Easter!  Hope you're celebrating with a nice turkey dinner with family or with some good chocolate (or both!). This card is done with 2-step stamping - the offset flowers are intentional :)

For this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I wanted to use Pony Party.  It's a very cute set that was begging to be glittered.  I popped up the wings and got myself covered in glitter - so much fun :)
