Star Framelit Wreath

Today's "card" comes from with the Star Framelits. First I traced a plate to get a large green circle as my background that I could build on - I did that just so that if there was a section that didn't get covered completely, that it wouldn't show up as a funny colour. Then I cut several smaller stars in green to make up that background layer.

That was when the real fun started - I cut many more larger stars in the Designer Series Paper and set about arranging (and re-arranging!) until I was happy with the design. Before sticking them down, I scored each star to make it 3D. This is the labour intensive part, but it's totally worth it!. I scored from the tips to the centre and then flipped over the star to do the indented tip to the centre in the opposite direction. (Each star is scored 10 times).

Then I used the hot glue gun to get everything to stay where I wanted it...and added some extra embellishments, like buttons, brads, etc.

Supplies Used:
Stars Framelits Dies, Champagne Glimmer Paper Candelight Christmas Designer Series Paper, Lucky Limeade Card Stock, Cherry Cobbler Ribbon, various retired buttons and brads.

Time for a Colour Refresh!

Today Stampin' Up! announced a colour refresh and I'm thrilled to share the updated line of colours in advance of the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalogue!

Note that all retiring/discontinuing colour products (ink, paper, ribbon, etc.) will be available only while supplies last!

There is only one new colour, which is called Smoky Slate. There are mostly previous In Colours that will returning as core colours. I've noted the years they were considered an In Colour beside their name ... They are Bermuda Bay ('09-'10), Blushing Bride ('10-'12), Calypso Coral ('11-'13), Crushed Curry ('09-'10), Island Indigo ('11-'13), Pear Pizzazz ('10-'12), Pool Party ('11-'13), Soft Sky, and Wisteria Wonder ('11-'13).

That means that this year when the current ('11-'13) In Colours were set to retire, the only one that is actually retiring is Lucky Limeade.  We will also still get 5 new In Colours! I wonder what they'll be??

So ... are any of your favourites being discontinued?  Are you as thrilled as I am that some are being kept as core colours (Island Indigo!!).  Leave a comment with your favourite colours to be entered for some blog candy!

Superbowl inspired MDSM6

While watching the Superbowl tonight, I got my inspiration for the most recent MDSMonday sketch.  I have so many football layouts to complete - I'm glad MDS makes it simple to keep a consistent look throughout the whole album and not worry about running out of supplies!  I also love multi-tasking and 'scrapbooking' while watching the game! Here are the supplies I used to make this page:
Background: Card Stock/Concord Crush
Stamps: Designer Kits/The Best Year - hexagon, and Designer Kits/Game Day - the big game
Punches: Basics/Hexagon Punch,  Filled with: Sycamore Street DSP

Apothecary Art - FMS32

Well here we are at the end of April - there's just one day left of the Occasions Mini catalogue.  I'm featuring the Apothecary Art set (and the Labels Framelits dies) for this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  They're my favourite 2 products out of the Mini ... I hope to see them both again soon in the new 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue ...

I did stretch my card out instead of making it a square.  I also tried a new technique, which you can only see if you look closely ... I stamped the main image in Wisteria Wonder and then added little highlights to the flowers with my Concord Crush marker to add some shading and dimension.  I'll have to try again with other colours to see if it's more noticeable.

While playing around with these colours, I noticed that Concord Crush is pretty much the same colour as my sons' football teams!  Perhaps since practice starts this week, I was more attuned to it?  I think I'll have to stock up on more of it now since it is retiring at the end of May!

Supplies used for my card:
Stamps: Apothecary Art
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush
Marker: Concord Crush
Paper: Concord Crush, Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, 2010-2012 In Colors DSP
Tools: Labels Framelits dies, Pennant punch (to make the banner)
Other: Basic Rhinestones and Stampin' Dimensionals

Full Stampin' Up! Retiring List is NOW available

The Full Stampin' Up! Retiring List is NOW available!

Today, the Retiring Accessories list was released – click  HERE to view it.   Some of this list is discounted up to 60%!! All retiring accessories as well as the discontinuing Décor Elements and Simply Adorned product lines will only be available while supplies last.  BE SURE TO ORDER EARLY!

I will be putting through an order tonight, so let me know by 8pm if there’s anything you’d like to add to this order.  Please note that some items may go quickly and may no longer be available tonight.  If there’s something you see that you don’t want to risk waiting on, you can always place an online order.  Online orders can also include Clearance Rack items too ..

If you haven’t yet seen the list of over 300 stamp sets that will be retiring, you’ll want to check it out here. These stamp sets will be available for purchase only through May 31, 2012.

All 2010-2012 In Colours (Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, Peach Parfait, Blushing Bride and Poppy Parade) are retiring to make way for 5 new colours to be released June 1 with the new 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue.

ALL Designer Series Papers are also retiring (with the exception of the new Summer Smooches suite that will be in the new catalogue)… grab your favourites before they’re gone! Some of these are at a 25% discounted price!

When you look at the retired accessories list, you'll note that all of our Stampin' Pads are listed. This is for two reasons: (1) Craft Stampin' Pads will now only be available in black and white; and (2) we are introducing a new Firm Foam pad that will offer better ink coverage (meaning better stamped images) with the 2012-2013 annual catalogue.

Also when you look at the list, you may be concerned about Markers and 12x12 cardstock as well ... Going forward with the new 2012-2013 catalogue, only select Stampin' Write Markers will be available individually (Stampin' Write Markers in colour collections will continue to be offered). 12" x 12" Textured Card Stock will no longer be offered and 12" x 12" Smooth Card Stock will only be available in select individual colours.

Lastly, if there are any products you haven’t yet snagged from the Occasions Mini, you should add them to your order now, as the mini ends April 30th.  Also, the Summer Smooches promotion ends April 30th too - the fabric brads are now only available while supplies last. Some of these sets and tools (can you say Framelits please!) hopefully will make it to the new catalogue, but there’s never any guarantee of that …

Welcome baby, FMS sketch 31

For this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I made a 'Welcome Baby' card for a baby shower I'm attending.

I turned the sketch on its side as I wanted the ribbon to flow down from the top.  To make the scalloped rectangle, I followed the formulas that Gretchen Barron had posted on her blog.  My rectangle started out being 4 1/4" x 3 1/4".  I also used the big rose stamp from Elements of Style to create a subtle background on the rectangle.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Elements of Style, Punch Bunch (retired)
Ink: Blushing Bride, Whisper White
Paper: Whisper White, 2010-2012 In Colors DSP
Tools: Scallop Corner punch, Scallop border punch, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Extra large Tag punch
Other: Blushing Bride 3/8" pleated ribbon, Whisper White 5/8" Organza ribbon

FMS30 sketch

After poring over the retiring stamps list all day today (see below post), and realizing that some of my favourites are leaving, I was inspired to put some ink to some of them.  There are some others that I've been coveting for awhile that are retiring, so now's the last chance to get them before they're gone (Upsy Daisy for example ... so pretty!)

I used this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches as my inspiration:

Supplies used:
Stamps: Wonderfully Worn (retiring), Faith in Nature (retiring), Language of Friendship
Ink: Concord Crush (retiring), Whisper White
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, 2010-2012 In Color DSP
Tools: Paper Doily sizzlit, Modern Label punch, Boho Blossoms punch
Other: Basic Pearls

Going, Going ... Gone! Retiring list is here!

It's here!  The Stampin' Up! Retiring Stamp list is here!  With the changes to the catalogue year, the retiring products lists are coming out in stages.  Today the Retiring Stamps list was released - the retiring accessories list will be coming on April 25th.

There are quite a number of stamp sets retiring this time (around 300 sets!), as the new catalogue will be quite a bit smaller when it's released - to accommodate some other changes (like being able to send it in the mail).

All stamp sets will be available until May 31st, but accessories and decor items will be on a while supplies are available basis!  Don't forget that there will be new In Colors, so the 2010-2012 colours (and their accessories) will be discontinuing. You'll want to stock up on Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, Peach Parfait, Blushing Bride and Poppy Parade while you can!

Happy Easter Peeps

Hope you're having a great Easter weekend ... I saw some of these 'peeps' made by Tami White and was inspired to play. They're made with the Bird builder punch and you have to cut off the bird's tail - or it sticks out too far from the egg.  The eggs were made with the large oval punch and then cut free handed.  To make the shaded frame, I cut the 2nd largest Labels Framelit die and then used it as a mask ... then I sponged Crumb Cake ink around it :)

Supplies used:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake
Paper: Whisper White, So Saffron, 2010-2012 In Colour DSP
Tools: Bird builder punch, Large oval punch, Labels Framelits die
Other: Sponge, googly eyes
